A branch of HomeServe plc, Homeserve Labs is a team of engineers and designers in charge of developing smart home technology products. Their most notable smart home solution is LeakBot, a device that can help home owners and insurers by detecting leaks in domestic water systems before they can cause damage.

Requirements

Homeserve Labs launched the LeakBot in the UK in June 2016, but was looking for support in replicating their success on the European market. They needed a translation agency that could provide translations for app text, instruction manuals and customer communication so that they were in the perfect position for marketing the LeakBot in Europe and supporting their online presence in the wider markets.

The STAR Solution

STAR has been working together with HomeServe Labs to achieve this since 2017, and in addition to promotional website text and e-commerce web pages, has also translated user product guides, terms and conditions and FAQ sheets. STAR has also handled many of the texts which are visible in the app, or which are sent to users in the form of automated emails, SMS communications and error messages. STAR has been able to offer HomeServe Labs the considerable cost savings that are linked to the use of our translation memory tool Transit NXT, which ensures consistency of technical terms across all documents by giving the translator access to all previously translated material in the relevant target language. The result is documentation and communication that is clear and unambiguous for the end user, enhancing user satisfaction and making it easier for HomeServe to maintain a customer base in Europe.
